Manchester United have appeared to confirm Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will become their caretaker manager in a website leak.Solskjaer emerged as the most likely candidate to succeed Jose Mourinho on Tuesday, with the Portuguese sacked from his position after two-and-a-half years in charge.Mourinho departs Old Trafford with the club 19 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, and facing a fight to even reach the top four and qualify for next season’s Champions League.3

Mourinho’s Old Trafford reign has come to an end

The Old Trafford outfit confirmed in a statement they will appoint a caretaker manager until the end of the season, with a new full-time boss to come in ahead of 2019/20.And Solskjaer emerged as a target of United’s, with bookies soon installing him as favourite to take over on an interim basis.The club legend began his coaching career with United’s reserves in 2008, and he is currently in charge of Molde in his homeland of Norway.But it appears he will be leaving to return to Old Trafford, with a leak on Manchester United’s website appearing to confirm his appointment.3

The leaked image is doing the rounds on social media

A video has been added to United’s website of Solskjaer scoring in the famous 1999 Champions League final, with a caption reading: “Solskjaer becomes our interim manager, 20 seasons after clinching the Treble with THAT goal at Camp Nou…”United quickly deleted the page after it started being shared on social media.

Furthermore, Erna Solberg, Norway’s Prime Minister, had to quickly delete a tweet sent out which all but confirmed Solskjaer’s return to Old Trafford.3

There is still no official confirmation from the club, but they wanted to appoint a new manager within 48 hours of sacking Mourinho.
