Footage of Ferdinand and Lineker, who spent three years at Barcelona and also played for Liverpool’s Merseyside rivals, Everton, celebrating Messi’s 600th goal – a fantastic 35-yard free-kick – was released by BT Sport, with the host tweeting: ‘The little genius defies logic.’Messi’s 600th goal for Barcelona actually came 14 years to the day since his first goal for the club, against Albacete, in 2005.Barcelona now take a commanding lead to Anfield for the second leg as they eye a place in the final on 1 June against either Ajax or Tottenham.Naturally, Liverpool fans who follow BT Sport on Twitter were not impressed, with responses to the video following along the lines of ’embarrassing’, as you can see below.
